So i figured that it was finally time to reveal the details of my new project, Trivia Rumble.

The game is still fairly early in the development stage and some of the screens that I provide may not be exactly how they look in the final version, but here we go.

Trivia Rumble Mode

This is the main mode of the game. You choose any wrestler and compete in a rumble type match where you must answer questions about your opponents to eliminate them from the match. You will also have to answer questions about your character in order to regain stamina and defend yourself. There are few other aspects of this part of the game that I still have not completely planned out. At this point, I have not done any work on this mode.

Trivia Challenge Mode

Number of downloads: 23

This is basically an old school trivia game. You can choose between two types of games. The first one is called "Test Your Knowledge" and the second is "3-Count Challenge". With Test Your Knowledge, you will get to choose anywhere from 10 to 50 questions that will be randomly taken from every wrestler's profiles in the database as well as from the general non-wrestler specific questions. Once you finish the quiz, you will be shown your score. In 3-Count Challenge, you can choose from 20 to 50 questions to answer, but you can only get 3 questions wrong before you are eliminated. On each question, there is also a 20 second time limit.

Wrestler Editor

The wrestler editor allows your to customize each wrestler in the game. Each wrestler can have his own set out questions specifically about him/her. Each question must have one correct answer and can have from 1 to 4 incorrect options. Another key feature is the wrestler's stamina. This comes into play during the Trivia Rumble Mode. The higher the stamina, the harder it is to eliminate a wrestler from the match.

General Questions Editor

Attached File  sn1.jpg (298.37K)
Number of downloads: 19

This is where you edit all of the questions that are just about wrestling history in general and don't pertain to any particular wrestler. These will pop up in Trivia Challenge Mode and will also appear in special cases during a Trivia Rumble Match.

Statistics

Comprehensive statistics will be kept from every single Trivia Rumble and Trivia Challenge game that you play.

Options & Unlockables

You will have the option to turn off music and sound effects and choose the active database. There will be a number of unlockables in the game that can also be managed from the same screen.

A special thanks goes out to Jamie Goehring for helping out with some of the coding on this game. In particular he helped me out with the code to allow the choices for a question to be randomly ordered. I know it seems easily but it was actually sorta complicated just for something as simple as that. :)

As soon as I take a look at screenr and figure it out, I'll do a short video with commentary showing off what I have completed so far. ;)

This looks like a great little game. As always, the interface looks clean and tidy - loving those graduating progress bars in the editor screen. I suppose the only question left to ask is, does it vibrate? ;)

Okay, I've done a few videos with Screenr that are ready to be viewed now. :)

This first one shows you how the editors work in the game. It also gives you a basic outline of how the game will work when completed.

This second video shows off the Trivia Challenge Mode.

This looks great. I noticed that in the wrestler editor, there was a option to use music for the wrestler. Are there any kind of limits on the music clips right as now?

Just that they have to be in MP3 format. They can be of any length. The game will be programmed to stop the music after a few seconds.

I probably won't release the game with themes for every wrestler due to the size but if I can gather everything I might release a ZIP with themes later on.

I figured the only thing would be the .mp3 format, but thought it would be better to ask.

Anyways, like I said, the game looks really good.

Thanks. It's good that some people are already starting to get interested in the game. :)

Has anyone ever told you that you sound exactly like Brandon Hardesty? Lovely voice.

Aside from that, the work you've done so far looks really cool man. Give yourself a shiny. B)

It's a good thing - he's a fine actor.

I did enjoy them, but my preference resides with the comments you made about your sweaty anus. I'd also like to point out that my 'name' doesn't rhyme with jerk; it rhymes with jark. My screen-name does though. In all seriousness, it sounds fun.

You just wait for the next PWMan video. It's going to be roughly the same as the others, albeit with more insults hurled in your general direction. *Shakes angry fist*:P

Here's a screenshot of the options/unlockables screen which is now completed. As you can see, the check marks will show up when you meet the requirements for a certain acheivement. Details will then be available as to what has been unlocked for each of the 6 achievements. I omitted those for the time being because I didn't want to give anything away. :)

That looks really nice. How have you saved the database description, author, version etc? Using a text file or as part of the database?

It's in a table inside of the database. When you click manage databases you can view all of the databases in the folder and edit the description info for each one. :)

The name of the active database as well as the sound and music settings are stored in an INI file.

UPDATE: I'm making good progress on the Trivia Rumble Mode. It looks great and is setting up nicely. I might do an early video soon just to show off some of what I have done as well as a few other features in the game. Woo hoo!
