Can I change my Spearheads?
You'll play the same 2 armies in round 1, but you can change one of them before we start round 2.
Does my army have to be painted?
No - just prime all unpainted miniatures in the same colour and you're good to go. There are prizes on offer at the end of the league for the best-painted army, so we hope that most players will work towards a fully painted army at the end of the league, but this is not compulsory.
How long is the league?
You should expect to play 8-10 games over 3-4 months (depending on the number of players), with a league final/social at the end where we'll hand out loads of prizes across a wide range of categories.

Under 16?
This league is open to players of all ages who can play Spearhead independently, and we are excited about the prospect of junior players getting involved. A parent or guardian must Contact Us through our website to provide personal details (name & age) and consent for any under-16s who sign up to the league.
We're meeting on Sunday mornings for Pirate Battles and working to build a friendly and welcome casual play community. Some events focus on helping new players get started, so both veterans and beginners are encouraged to come down and join in!

We've used our 2026 Survey data to create a new Board Game Night experience!
You'll find more of the games that you want to play, as well as dedicated teaching sessions so that everyone can learn the games they want to play.
Learn-to-Play: These sessions are aimed at players who don't know how to play the game. They'll be run by a community volunteer or a member of staff, who will start the session by teaching the game. Some of these games involve a fairly long teach!
Guided: A community volunteer or member of staff will be running these games, so they'll be able to teach new players as they go, or help people with rules in more complicated games.
Unguided: There won't be anyone running these games, so you'll need to have have a good understanding of how to play in order to sign up.
We've ranked games as light games, medium complexity or high complexity. This is very subjective, not should give you an idea of what type of game to expect. High complexity games will involve a long teach with lots of planing a decision making over several hours. Light games will take a few minutes to learn and tend to be fun, fast-paced games that last less than an hour.

Dive into a one of our single-session D&D adventures!
We're playing the 2024 edition of Dungeons & Dragons, with new One-Shots every month. Players must be comfortable playing 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, and will need to bring a character built using the 2024 D&D Player's Handbook only.
Experienced players only: These sessions are not for beginners.
Pre-2024 players: Don't worry if you've only played the pre-2024 5th edition; most of the changes affect the Dungeon Master more than the players - just build a character using the new edition and you'll be fine!
Prepare characters in advance: Players who do not have a fully completed character sheet at the start time of the session will be unable to participate in the session and will not receive a refund. Note that the background section can be left blank, and you can discuss non-starting equipment with the DM at the start of the session.
Join us for a fun multi-group adventure set near the kingdom of Thay, celebrating the launch of the Arcana Unleashed books. Magical antics will ensue as the groups must work together to undo the evil machinations of the Red Wizards of Thay!
Wizards of the Coast are sending us some bonus goodies to give away on the night (last time we got mystery dice bags, but we're waiting for official confirmation for this one).
Level 3 pregenerated characters will be provided, or players may generate their own level 3 character using content from the 2024 Player's Handbook and Arcana Unleashed books.
Call of Cthulhu, Daggerheart, Warhammer Fantasy RPG, Warhammer 40,000 Wrath & Glory, Spire and Matrons of Mystery all make frequent appearances at our one-shot nights!

Celebrate the launch of Pokémon: Delta Reign at one of our 4 Prerelease Events!
Each participant will receive a Delta Reign Build & Battle box containing a prebuilt deck and 4 booster packs which you can use to upgrade your deck. Then we'll all play a casual tournament to test out our new decks, after which everyone will take home an extra 3 booster packs!
Bonus Prizes: all participants attending multiple events will receive a bonus booster pack at each event!
You don't need to bring anything along (although a playmat, damage counters and coin never hurt!).
All participants must be able to play the Pokémon TCG independently. If you need to learn how to play then book on to one of our learn-to-play sessions.

Learning to play: This club is aimed at children who already know how to play Pokémon. Due to the large number of people attending this club it is not possible to teach new players here, but we do offer learn-to-play sessions that you can book on to.
Decks: Participants will require their own deck to take part in this club.
If you need to cancel your booking then please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make your space available to someone else. Refunds will only be given for bookings cancelled at least 48 hours before the event start time. Cancelled bookings cannot be transferred.
Pokémon Club is intended as a space for children to play the Pokémon TCG. We ask that children do not bring games consoles to Pokémon Club, and that spaces are only booked for children who wish to participate in Pokémon TCG activities.
Trading is a core part of the Pokémon TCG hobby. Pokémon Club attendees are welcome to trade Pokémon cards in the final 30 minutes of Pokémon Club (excluding tournaments).

Masters and Seniors can join us at our Monday night Pokémon Masters League, where we will run a 3-round sanctioned tournament (unless another event is listed for that evening).
Players will earn points for the games that they win (plus a bonus point for playing in the event), which can be spent on the incredible prizes in our prize cabinet! Points will reset every 4 weeks, at which point we'll add a host of new prizes to the cabinet!
Set Legality:
Players must play with a Standard-legal deck, with the following exception:
Cards from new sets may be used from the Official Release Date of that set onwards (and at Celebration Tournaments for that set). Note that this only applies to Masters League sessions, not to League Challenges or League Cups (standard legality rules will apply to these events).

Explore Reality Fracture at one of our prerelease events! These are Sealed events where we all build a deck from the 6 Play boosters in our prerelease kits, then compete in a casual tournament to test out our decks.
New Players: These events are great for new players who have only recently started playing Magic: The Gathering and want to explore a brand new set. We have a really supportive community of players who are excited about helping new players learn. So long as you've played a few games you should find these events accessible.

The Hobbit - Standard Format: Build a 60-card standard format deck using only cards from The Hobbit set (HOB code). You may also add up to 4 cards with the HOC code printed on them to each deck to add a little variety!
Casual Tournament: Each week we'll play a casual 3-round 1v1 tournament with a twist based on where Thorin and Company have reached on their journey. At the last session of the series we'll play multiplayer games as players face off in The Battle of Five Armies.
Prizes & Rewards: This is a prize-heavy series! Players will be rewarded with all sorts of goodies based on their progress, as well as earning points for the prize cabinet for match wins.
New Players: This event series is great for new players who have only recently started playing Magic: The Gathering, as we'll be starting with a learn-to-play and deck-building session where new players will receive a Hobbit intro deck. We have a really supportive community of players who are excited about helping new players learn.

Learn-to-play sessions are back!
Our staff and community volunteers love teaching people to play new games. You'll find an ever-growing list of games here that you can have a go at - check back regularly for the latest sessions.
Deposit Required: all learn-to-play sessions now require a £5 deposit per participant.
£5 voucher: all participants will receive a £5 Black Dragon Games voucher at the end of their session.
Non-refundable: deposits are non-refundable, so please only book on to a session if you are certain that you can attend.
Earlier this year we had to stop running learn-to-play sessions due to a no-show rate in excess of 50%. No-shows meant that staff and community volunteer time was being wasted, while many people who wanted to attend learn-to-plays were unable to do so because the spaces had been booked out by people who did not attend.
Taking deposits and providing £5 vouchers to those who do attend allows us to keep these sessions as close to free as possible, while deterring those who book spaces and do not attend.
Please note that all events have age restrictions. Parental supervision is required throughout the session for any under-17s.
You must book on to these sessions in advance in order to attend them.
Any sessions with no bookings 24 hours before their start time are likely to be cancelled and their booking option removed.
